Be your own health advocate

Living with Hashimoto’s can be challenging from getting a diagnosis to finding out how to manage the range of symptoms. Throughout my journey, I have realised how important it is to be an advocate for your own health and wellbeing by continuing to seek answers and support. I’ve been let down by many doctors throughout my journey, but I have continued to advocate for my health in order to find solutions.

You know your body better than anyone else, if something doesn’t feel right you should trust your instincts. Don’t hesitate to keep searching for answers, even if it means pushing though frustration and setback. Your persistence could be the key to unlocking solutions and improving your quality of life.

Finding the right healthcare provider is very important. Seek someone who not only has the right experience and knowledge but also listens intently to your concerns. You deserve to feel heard and understood in your medical journey.

Your road to wellness may involve countless appointments, trials of medications and adjustments to your diet and supplements. It can be a very taxing process but just remember that each step you take is a stride towards improving your health and symptoms.

Remember that you are not alone on the journey. Lean on your support system, whether it’s family friends, or your healthcare provider. Their encouragement and understanding can be invaluable as you navigate the complexities of Hashimoto’s. Not everyone will understand what you are going through and that’s ok too, we all experience life differently and you can’t control how others think and respond.

No matter what stage of your journey you are in, remember you’re not alone and you have the power to advocate for your health. Keep pushing forward, seeking answers and never underestimate the strength of your voice in shaping your wellness.
